FOOT SURGERY

BUNION

HALLUX VALGUS

There may be several static foot defects in the background of the "cam" foot. Patients feel pain in areas of the foot under increased pressure, in advanced cases the old toe, toes are deformed, bent, twisted or distorted, walking and wearing shoes is only possible with complaints.

INVESTIGATION

If you are honored to show me the complaining limb, I will examine your leg, take an x-ray and discuss how you can help with your complaints.

SURGERY

If you need surgical treatment, I am happy to help you with this. I do almost every type of surgery in my foot surgery so I can offer the right type of surgery for every problem.

If the deviation is not severe, classical cam surgeries can be performed. These are based on the so-called “chevron” osteotomy, in which, by sawing through the metatarsal, the head of the foot is moved sufficiently to better match the load when walking and the old toe (the largest toe) cannot rotate on it again. It is often necessary to supplement the so-called Akin surgery in this case as well, when a minor correction is made on the base minute of the old toe in order to settle the deformity formed in the toe itself.

We can adapt this surgical technique to the actual deformity with minor modifications, so that the best possible result can be achieved.

In the case of more severe deviations, the required result cannot be achieved with the previously described surgery. Depending on the accompanying lesions found in the case of a prominent old toe lesion, an intervention may be made in the middle of the metatarsal, at the “stem” or at the joint at the base of the metatarsal. In my practice, these are “scarf osteotomy” or modified Lapidus arthrodesis surgeries, in which a metal plate or staple wire is used to fix it in the corrected position after cutting the bones.

Corrective surgeries for possible hammer deformities can, of course, be combined with these procedures.

AFTERCARE

Wearing 4-6 weeks of "treatment shoes" and sparing.

In the case of a modified Lapidus procedure, the healing time is longer, 8-10 weeks, the sparing is increased, after surgery, the load is possible for 6 weeks only in stable "treatment boots".
